Project 11: Hazard Yellow (v0.3.6 – Early Adopter Release)

Project 11 Hazard Yellow is our premium, yellow-focused shrimp stick food—handmade in Queensland in small batches for Neocaridina keepers who want more than a generic pellet in a plastic tub.

This is not a low-cost filler food.
It’s a dense, functional feed built around:

• Natural carotenoids
• Plant-based micronutrients
• Mineral and shell support
• Balanced protein sources
• Feeding stimulants

Each stick is designed to slowly rehydrate, release a light dusting for immediate grazing, and then hold its structure for extended feeding, without turning into sludge.

This release is our v0.3.6 interim early adopter batch, created while we continue sourcing and testing several specialist ingredients for the final formula.

Why Hazard Yellow Exists

Yellow shrimp can be stunning, but color quality depends on more than genetics alone.

Diet, mineral availability, carotenoid intake, stress, and overall health all play a role in how well shrimp maintain their color over time.

Hazard Yellow was built to support:

• Pumpkin & carrot (fresh vegetable base)
• Spirulina & spinach powder
• Paprika & turmeric
• Astaxanthin & marigold extract
• Bee pollen & brewer’s yeast
• Flaxseed meal & hemp protein
• Alfalfa & kelp
• Cuttlebone & chitosan
• Agar (binder)
• Garlic, TMG, vitamin E, and trace minerals

Built Like Food — Not Filler

Most aquarium foods start cheap, and get dressed up later.

Project 11 was built the opposite way:
function first, ingredients second.

We use:

• Steamed Jap pumpkin & carrot as a real food base
• Spirulina & spinach for micronutrients
• Turmeric & paprika for pigment support
• Bee pollen & yeast for amino acids and B vitamins
• Kelp for marine trace minerals
• Cuttlebone & chitosan for shell support

Agar replaces cheap starch binders, giving each stick a firm, slow-feeding structure.

The result?

A stick that:

• Wakes up in water
• Lightly blooms
• Attracts shrimp quickly
• Holds together for extended grazing

No sludge. No beige mystery brick.
Just a proper shrimp buffet.

In-Water Behavior

When introduced to the tank, Hazard Yellow behaves intentionally and predictably:

• Light initial dusting to trigger feeding
• Fast shrimp response
• Gradual rehydration
• Strong structural integrity
• Extended grazing window
• Easy removal if uneaten

Feed based on colony size and remove excess if shrimp are not actively feeding.

Handmade in Queensland

Every batch is produced using a controlled small-batch process:

1. Vegetables are steamed
2. Ingredients are blended into a smooth batter
3. Agar is activated in boiling water
4. Skewers are hand-dipped (~1 mm coating)
5. Sticks are dehydrated under a staged, low-temperature schedule

This slower method allows precise control over texture, consistency, and performance.

Hazard Yellow comes in a reusable glass container, not disposable plastic.

Refill systems and subscription options are planned once production stabilizes.

This is an interim release, meaning:
